What is a ring scanner?

A small barcode scanner worn on a finger, triggered with the thumb. It pairs over Bluetooth with a wearable computer worn on the wrist or arm, so the operator scans without holding anything.

Ring scanners are the second half of a wearable system. On their own they have no display and run no application.

Which Zebra ring scanners pair with the WT6400 and WT5400?

The RS2100, RS5100 and RS6100 all pair with the current wearable range. The RS2100 is the back-of-hand design, while the RS5100 and RS6100 are finger-worn with different trigger and durability options.

Corded wearable scanners are also supported where battery management is unwelcome.

Ring scanner or handheld?

A ring scanner suits dense, repetitive picking where the operator constantly handles product. Not putting a scanner down between items is worth several seconds per pick.

A handheld is better for varied work, occasional scanning, or anywhere the operator also needs to read a screen in the same motion.
