Do I need a mobile computer or just a scanner?

A scanner captures data and sends it to a computer. A mobile computer runs the application itself, so the operator sees the item, the expected count and the next task without returning to a terminal.

For a warehouse-wide stock count or an asset audit across a site, that difference usually pays for the device in the first cycle. For a receiving desk beside a PC, a scanner is the cheaper and simpler answer.

Handheld or tablet?

A handheld like the DR6 or WDT950 is one-handed and built around scanning, which suits counting, picking and auditing where the other hand holds the item.

The WT10 tablet gives a larger screen for forms, photographs and record detail, and suits supervisors, receiving desks and vehicle mounting.

If the work is mostly scanning, choose the handheld. If it is mostly reading and entering, choose the tablet.

Will the battery last a full shift?

Enterprise Android devices are specified for a working shift under normal scanning rates, but heavy continuous scanning, cold environments and always-on screens all shorten that.

Where devices are shared across shifts, plan for spare batteries and a multi-bay charger. A shared device never gets a full charge cycle to itself, and that is the usual cause of a fleet running flat mid-afternoon.
