Frequently asked questions

Does the DS3608-SR00003VZWW include a cable?

No. DS3608-SR00003VZWW is Zebra's part number for the corded scanner only. Zebra's DS36X8 product reference guide states that the DS3608 ships with its Quick Start Guide and that an interface cable for your host type must be ordered, along with a universal power supply if that interface requires one.

What does SR mean in Zebra DS3608-SR?

SR stands for standard range. Zebra's DS3608 lineup also includes high performance (HP), high density (HD), extended range (ER and XR) and direct part marking (DP and DPA) versions.

What is the difference between the DS3608-SR and the DS3678-SR?

The DS3608-SR is the corded model. The DS3678-SR is the cordless version, which runs on a battery and communicates through a Bluetooth charging cradle. Zebra rates the corded DS3608 for operation from -22°F to 122°F (-30°C to 50°C) and the cordless DS3678 from -4°F to 122°F (-20°C to 50°C).

How do I connect the DS3608-SR to a computer or POS terminal?

Insert the Zebra interface cable for your host into the port on the bottom of the scanner, secure it with the metal lock plate, and plug the other end into the host. Over USB the scanner defaults to HID keyboard mode; other modes are set with programming barcodes or 123Scan.

Can the DS3608-SR be used hands-free?

Yes, with the optional Zebra Intellistand (part number STND-AS0036-07), which is ordered separately. When the scanner is seated in the stand, a built-in sensor switches it to hands-free presentation mode, and it returns to its triggered hand-held mode when lifted out.
